WINGFIELD ANALYSIS

We have installed the Wingfield system on two of our indoor courts. If you want to use it, book Court 1 or 2 online and collect your “Wingfield pass” at reception before your game. Please find out about how to use it online in advance, using the descriptions and videos provided. You can find more information on the Wingfield website, among others. Below is a brief description from the provider:

The system
Wingfield transforms conventional tennis courts into smart courts, providing access to the most interactive game experience of all time. The system gives you feedback on an exercise while you are still on court, unlocks totally new and interactive coaching formats, and rates matches in participating associations (e.g. Hessen) for your national rating. Below are some examples of how it can be used:

Match analyses
Celebrate every little success! First serve rate under 50%? You can do better! Numerous fascinating statistics show you what you need to work on before your next match.

Interactive drills
Push your limits! Drill scores give you immediate feedback on your performance after an exercise. Throw yourself into it! Set yourself new targets, track your progress and compare your high scores with the community.

Video tools
Go further than conventional video analysis. Regularly watching yourself play is the best way to progress. Use the smart video tool to filter entire matches for certain events, and save time and stress in your technical analysis.

Improve your DTB performance category (LK)
Challenge other players to an official match whenever you want or take part in an LK league in your club. The AI referee makes sure that the match has been conducted correctly and forwards the results to the association automatically.

RESTAURANT AND CANTEEN FOR PLAYERS AND THEIR FAMILIES

The facility is currently under construction! A delicious buffet or perhaps à la carte? The restaurant is designed for players, parents, tournament participants and external guests. Meals are served à la carte in pleasant surroundings that invite parents to enjoy their dinner with other parents or visitors.

Guests can enjoy high-quality food in an appealing ambience without leaving the campus. Sharing the same kitchen is the student canteen, which offers a buffet that changes every day.

COMFORTABLE ACCOMMODATION FOR PLAYERS AND THEIR FAMILIES

The facility is currently under construction! A total of 76 four-bed dorms are planned for the students, providing space for 304 students. The boarding facilities will be completed in two stages. The first stage will be the construction of 46 rooms with four beds each, providing capacity for 184 students. Another 30 four-bed dorms will be constructed in the second stage, offering space for another 120 boarders.

The Academy is not only for children and their parents, but also for other relatives, guests and visitors to the institution, tournament participants and members of the tennis club. Further accommodation therefore needs to be created alongside the student dorms on campus. A hotel is currently being constructed on the site itself, with the Dorint Group joining us as a partner. The hotel will have 110 rooms, plus facilities including a rooftop infinity pool, underground car park, bar, spa, charging point for electric cars.

Parents will also be able to use the 30 planned 1.5-bedroom apartments, giving them a comfortable option to stay close to their children.

BECOME PROFESSIONAL OR CHOOSE A DIFFERENT CAREER

Graduates will have all options open to them. During their time at the school, students will regularly come into contact with sports scouts and American universities and colleges with close links to the Academy.

Scholarship:
The goal is to be given the opportunity of a scholarship at a US university. Teaching is therefore in English and classes usually have just 15 students, guaranteeing an international approach and individual support and advancement for every student.

Sporting career:
Once they graduate, their transition to a career in professional sport can be organised as smoothly as possible. The tennis and general sports training with tournament support in our PRO TEAM is ideal for this.

PERFORMANCE TRAINING FOR STUDENTS FROM THE 5TH SCHOOL CLASS

School and tennis:
The programme centres around professional tennis and school education for the children at the Academy campus. The goal is to enable the students to complete their Abitur, giving them the ideal conditions to begin their studies or career. Dr. Obermayr, the internationally renowned private school provider, will deliver this education. The education programme also promotes the children’s talents in tennis, allowing them to develop their skills in the best possible way – and opening up the opportunity of a professional career. Graduates will have all options open to them.

Professional career and other options possible:
During their time at the school, students will regularly come into contact with sports scouts and American universities and colleges with close links to the Academy. Once they graduate, their transition to a career in professional sport can be organised as smoothly as possible. Teaching is therefore in English and classes usually have a maximum of 10-15 students – guaranteeing an international approach and individual support and advancement for every student.

Tennis, athletics and health:
Alongside academic studies, tennis teaching is at the heart of what the Academy does. Tennis and athletics teaching is provided by professional coaches, who are responsible for advancing the students’ sporting and social skills. Young professional athletes need to be able to rely on their bodies. That is why support from sports medicine is so important. Nutritionists, general practitioners and physiotherapists all play their part in checking the students’ health regularly and improving it in the long term. To support their sports training, students have access to multiple fitness centres and a swimming area.

Accommodation on campus:
Initially, students will be accommodated in 46 dorms of four beds each, providing capacity for 184 students. In order to achieve the final maximum capacity, another 30 dorms with four beds each will also be set up to offer boarding space for an additional 120 students. There will also be 30 1.5-bed apartments for parents, giving them a comfortable option to stay close to their children.

Holiday camps and tournaments:
Another aspect of our Academy is holding tennis holiday camps and tournaments. Holiday camps of one week each are planned during Easter, summer and autumn holidays. We also offer tennis camps outside the local school holidays, to accommodate varying holidays across Europe. Tournaments for all abilities and age groups have been held regularly at our Academy since November 2021. As well as offering a wide range of DTB and LK tournaments, we also give you the chance to take part in regional championships and international tournaments. Further tournament series are planned (ITF, WTA, ATP).

Dorint Hotel:
The Academy is not only for children and their parents, but also for other relatives, guests and visitors to the institution, tournament participants and members of the tennis club. Further accommodation therefore needs to be created alongside the student dorms on campus. A hotel is currently being constructed on the site itself, with the Dorint Group joining us as a partner. The hotel will offer 110 rooms, which can be booked via the relevant portals. Tennis-Point shop:
High-quality equipment is absolutely essential in professional sport – and the students at our Academy are no different. To meet the demand for professional tennis equipment, the campus will also boast a shop for sporting goods. Operated by Tennis-Point, it will give students the opportunity to kit themselves out on site. Given its focus on tennis and the professional advice provided, the pro shop will also be popular with experts.

WELCOME TO THE BORIS BECKER ACADEMY: “NEVER STOP PLAYING!”

We tennis fans remember only too well how, at Wimbledon in 1985, Boris Becker almost gave up during his fourth round match against American Tim Mayotte. Boris had twisted his ankle. He carried on playing and won the match in five sets. After three more victories, Boris Becker become the youngest Wimbledon winner of all time. This will to win shaped his entire career. Today, it is reflected in the guiding principle of the Boris Becker Academy: NEVER STOP PLAYING!

And there is another reason why we chose this slogan. At the Boris Becker Academy, we play whatever the weather. It is all made possible by our unique training facilities. Eventually there will be more than 40 courts for training, including 22 indoor courts in one of the world’s largest tennis halls. Maybe even the largest! We are in the heart of Europe. But heat, rain or snow are no reason to interrupt training. We just go indoors. Here, too, our guiding principle remains: NEVER STOP PLAYING!

Kids Camps

On your marks, get set, go! In summer 2022, we held the first Kids and Junior Camps in tournament format at our Academy. The tournament camps took place weekly, Monday to Friday, during the school holidays.

Participants had the chance to improve their place in the rankings in the first, fifth and sixth weeks. As well as exciting singles matches, there was also plenty of doubles fun to be had. The young people were also able to make new friends and enjoy lunch together.

In future, we will be offering a range of camp programmes with different sporting objectives for children and young people – allowing players the best possible sporting development in next to no time. Competition camps, intensive camps and half-day camps are all planned.

More information to come.
